I was actually referring more to the idea that high school helps you build up a tolerance to being surrounded by douchebags and ignoramuses, because that’s a large percentage of the population right there. But I personally don’t like taking this as truth–the tweet came out of a conversation I had with someone else, and I posted it because I thought it might generate some interesting conversation. I tend to believe people are good at heart, and that everybody fits in somewhere…and of course you know how I prefer to think of high school (i.e., a feudal warzone full of adventures involving gangs and lasers).

I’ll show you what I mean about the files the next time I see you in person. Like I said, I’m already doing what I’m talking about here for books that are right on the verge of publication, and I have been for years. The only reason I’m hesitating to convert the rest of my stuff in progress is because standardizing the names doesn’t really feel like my idea (despite the fact that I did it for TOT without blinking).

Hrmm…the standardization of naming files by their dates seems hollow and (to me) confusing. I wouldn’t do it….but I’m also a disorganized fool. Nice shoutout to TOT, though! Woooooo!

Also, in response to last week’s tweet….high school is a time of indoctrination and homogenization. Indeed…it prepares everyone to be a bland, obedient worker in a petty, pyramidal economy.
