Checklist for Having Company Over

  1. Take out trash and recycling.
  2. Pick up and throw away obvious dust bunnies.
  3. Chase invading flies around apartment with spatula, kill.
  4. Scrub down bathroom, refill soap dispenser.
  5. Wash (most of) the dishes.
  6. Vacuum up that HUGE FREAKING WATERBUG THAT I HEARD SCRATCHING ALONG THE WALLS FOR LIKE AN HOUR WHAT THE HELL.

Yeah, it’s been a while since I’ve had anyone over.

I’m finally playing Metroid Prime 3.  Seems good so far!

New Back Covers!

Hello, whoever reads this page!  I have returned from my vacation with a pair of big announcements–well, one announcement that comes as a pair, really.  Both Blood and Brotherhood and The Arc of Time (that’s books two and three of School Kids SG for any new folks) have been retrofitted with those new back covers I mentioned a few months ago!  The text isn’t exactly the same as it was in the prototypes, but I think it’s as good as I can make it.  All new copies of these books printed from now on will have the punchier covers–if you haven’t bought the books yet, what could be a better incentive?

I’m still working on getting The Gauntlet back up for sale.  These things always take longer than I hope they will.  This will probably be the last chance I get to revisit TG in this kind of detail, though, so I want to make sure I do it right.  There’s a very good reason book one is taking longer to retrofit than the other two, and when it returns, it’ll come alongside an even more exciting new addition to the site.  Look forward to it!

Aaaand I’m already contemplating another trip, though I’m sure it’ll be at least another year before I can get farther out of New York City than a quick jaunt to New Jersey.  Y’know where I’ve always wanted to visit?  San Francisco.  I’m terrified of planes, though…has anyone ever done the marathon 75.5 hour cross-country train ride?  I feel like I’d need to work my way up to something like that.  In the meantime, I guess I’ll have to settle for someplace like Boston, or maybe Montreal.

Out of Town

I’m on something of a miniature writer’s retreat (even if the project I’m working on right now isn’t technically “writing,” though it is creative).  I’ll make a more worthwhile update when I return [to steady Internet access].  Happy Columbus Day!

The Official SKSG Episode Guide

Eventually, I plan to write this out more in the manner of prose, but for now, click the thumbnail below to enjoy a simple viewer in the same vein as the Canon Calendar.  These capsule descriptions of all the School Kids SG episodes published so far are also available on Facebook.

Books!

And for once, I’m not talking about my own.  Since it seems to be the In thing to do, here are a couple of books I’ve recently read/acquired/want to acquire or read:

Jonathan Lethem: Chronic City - Lethem is one of my favorite authors, but I admit that I had a hard time getting into You Don’t Love Me Yet, and I’m a little nervous to approach this one, which sounds like it might mirror my own periodic frustration with New York City just a little bit too much.  I bought it as a birthday present for myself last year, and I still haven’t gotten around to it yet.  The jacket art is pretty well-done.  This is one I might need to take with me when I go on vacation…somewhere rural…for a long time.
