Futurama!

I’m posting a day early this week in honor of Futurama’s return.  New episodes (two of them in a row!) begin airing tonight at 10:00 on Comedy Central.  You should watch–I know I’m going to.

For those of you who haven’t kept up, here are my very brief opinions of the four straight-to-DVD movies that occurred between the last TV season and the one about to begin:

The Deserted Village

And now for something creepy.

Just about a month ago, I headed up to Bard for alumni weekend (the 150th anniversary alumni weekend, in fact).  Visiting my alma mater is always a good time, and this trip didn’t disappoint.  The second night, some other young alumni led me off campus via a dirt road, to an abandoned barn in the middle of the woods, miles from the nearest town.  This is the kind of adventure I wish I were still having regularly (though I did stop short of following the others inside, when I heard one of them exclaim about “holes [in the floor] you couldn’t get out of easily.”)

But it was almost as much fun trying to put the barn into context afterward…my research quickly revealed something much bigger.

More of the Work in Progress

I’m too into this (and some other SKSG stuff I’ve been doing this week) to stop and write any more text.  So, you get pencils for Damien and Jenn (the latter of whom sports the first marginally-convincing set of crossed arms I think I’ve ever drawn), plus one more reminder that The Arc of Time is 10% off until the end of the month.  Just enter code SUMMERREAD305 at checkout.

Work in Progress

Despite being sort of rusty at drawing, I’m trying not to play it safe with this one (i.e., I’m experimenting with poses and gestures I haven’t attempted before).  This is mainly to keep things interesting, and also see if I can break some barriers I haven’t previously been able to breach.  We’ll see how soon I can have a finished version for you…there’s going to be a companion drawing of antagonists, and I’m not going to show either until both are done.  Should be relatively soon, if I have my way!

10% Off The Arc of Time!

Wow, what a nice surprise…Lulu randomly gave me a discount to pass on to all my readers!  Use the code SUMMERREAD305 at checkout to knock the price of The Arc of Time down by 10%.  Good through June 30th, but what are you waiting for?  If you’ve been on the fence, now’s the time to buy!

Screwing Around Again

You may get deja vu from this post if you’ve been visiting School Kids SG for any length of time–I like to make an announcement whenever I’m playing with the site template, just so people don’t think I’m a sloppy programmer all the time.  In any case, if you see anything weird around here tonight (6/5 into 6/6), rest assured that it’ll be gone as soon as I’m done with my experiments.

Some More Music

I’ve been “playlisting” (did I just make that word up?) a lot lately, so I thought it was time to share one of my mixes again, but first, let me point you to some other music.  Namely, the first peek at the Wii-remastered La-Mulana soundtrack.  I don’t think there was a song in this game that I disliked, so I find this pretty exciting.  There are several songs in the video–particularly hang in for the middle ones (Fearless Challenger, King Konda, Grand History, and Curse of Ocean (formerly Curse of IRON PIPE).

Once you’ve given that some time, take a peek below at the mix I made to bring along on my travels in May (my sister’s graduation, followed by a visit to Bard).  This one’s a lot different than the last playlist I posted, in part simply because it’s much more of an attempt to aggregate Pandora suggestions and songs by artists whose albums I don’t love enough to listen to all at once.  And yet, whether because my luck was prescient or because I managed to do a lot with the set of songs I was going to burn anyway, I feel like I was able to construct a pretty accurate picture of my recent mood.  See if you can figure it out.
