The canon calendar takes the form of several pages from a spreadsheet I use to keep track of the School Kids SG timeline. This series occurs across real future dates–for example, there really will be a Wednesday, October 3rd, 2029. New pages will be added here as new books are released and more dates are nailed down.
The year 2029 is officially complete as of The Arc of Time. Click on the thumbnail below to launch the calendar viewer (opens in a new tab/window). Please be warned that this calendar does contain some spoilers.

In lieu of reading something from me today, I urge you to check out this Prop 8 Trial Tracker a friend of mine pointed me to. I would say that it’s fascinating regardless of your position on the issue (which it may well be–courtroom battles make for pretty good reading), but the real reason I find it interesting should be obvious. Anyone who knows me at all knows my position on the issue, and therefore my hope for the outcome of this trial.
Give it a look–this is a cause worth supporting, even if it’s only with your attention. The blog may be slanted, but really, I’m glad the writers aren’t ashamed of being the good guys!

…is what 2010 is shaping up to be. Well, a great year for music for me, anyway–I’m not talking about upcoming releases, just albums that I myself want to buy in the coming months. Anyone who knows me is aware that my tastes veer toward video game soundtracks and JPop songs from anime, but there’s another part of my iPod that I don’t always share. This is the section influenced by Alternative Press, which you may know as the magazine that ranked President Obama’s inauguration behind Michael Jackson’s death and that “Balloon Boy” incident for most memorable event of 2009. I have no illusions about Fall Out Boy or Yellowcard being “respectable” in the eyes of music snobs, but I’ve had some very interesting conversations since I started letting my friends in on my music proclivities, and the AP slice of my personality remains one of the most New-Jersey-influenced parts of me. Call it a souvenir.
What follows is a list of albums I haven’t heard yet but want to. At best, think of them as recommendations–otherwise, think of them as another glimpse into my musical psyche.

Well, would you look at that. My first post of 2010 is also my 300th! That’s a fun coincidence.
Just like my early review of this game’s predecessor, I’m writing a little bit about Spirit Tracks even though I haven’t actually finished it yet. Gotta stay contemporary, after all. Like most of the other Zeldas, this is a good game, and a must-have if you’re a train fan. The admittedly off-the-shelf storyline centers around a literal set of “spirit tracks,” rails built by the ancients to carry energy, but which the innovative locals have been using to support their locomotive-based economy. The tracks are disappearing, though, and it’s up to you to travel the land in your train (complete with engine, passenger car, and deadly cannon) to bring them back.
