A Chronicle of Embarassing Sandwiches
I went to a birthday dinner for a friend tonight, and on the menu, there was this blackened chicken sandwich with bacon, jack cheese, mayo, and caramelized onions. Because this was a setting in which I couldn’t hide the act of picking apart my food, I had to ask for said sandwich without the cheese, the onions, or the mayo, which was highly embarrassing. The waitress seemed stunned/amused. It was horrible!
The sandwich, however, was very good, despite the fact that it didn’t come with lettuce by default (which meant I actually got less on it than I expected, ha ha). I had been building something akin to a BLT in my mind, but instead I found myself having to shove the garnish lettuce under the bread to make up for the lack of greens, heaping embarrassment upon embarrassment.
Afterwards, we did dance to 80s music, which is one of my favorite kinds of music! I forgot about my embarrassment pretty quickly.
