Hallway Math

As you may have seen in the map of Woodvale High (or perhaps you read it in The Gauntlet), the single long hallway that comprises the school’s entire second floor can have different names based on the class level of its occupants. Its name, therefore, changes every year…but the changes run in a cycle. After all, since Woodvale High’s newest class of incoming freshmen takes over the newly-vacated lockers of the departing seniors, and then holds on to those locker assignments for the next four years, there are only so many possible combinations the upstairs hallway can have.

I was thinking about it at work today on my lunch hour, when I was suddenly inspired to work a bit on a School Kids SG episode that you won’t see around here for some time. It will give nothing away at this point to tell you that the chapter I began today started with Mark entering Senior Hall via the east stairs (Stair D if you’re following along on the map). As I wrote the description, a thought occurred to me–I’ve visited the Woodvale universe in the 1997-1998 school year as well, which was the time period of the first vigilante group. At that time, the juniors and seniors shared the upstairs hallway, and I thought, well gee, I’d better make sure that the seniors and freshman really will share the upstairs hall in 2029-2030, following the cycle!

As if anyone would care except me…but I like this world to be as coherent as possible, within the rules it sets out for itself. So I tore off a scrap of paper from one of my note pads and spent the next 10 minutes of my break doing hallway math. Click the “keep reading” link to find out just how insane I am.

The Most Important Meal of the Day

Oh, what a breakfast I had this morning. Eggs, bacon and chocolate chip waffles. Yes, they were Eggo waffles, and yes, the bacon was that pre-cooked Boar’s Head kind you find warm in the aisle at Stop & Shop, but still! The only sad thing was that I had no one to share it with.

Nor anyone to brag about my cooking skills with. Oh, well, at least having a blog solves that problem.  You should have seen the way I planned out all three items to finish cooking at exactly the same time!

Why, yes! I am insane. Thanks for noticing.

We’re Number One!

Right now, go do a Google search for “School Kids SG.” That’s right! And it’s about time–where on Earth else would that phrase appear?

Here’s a link to the search in case you don’t want to go type it in yourself. I dunno how long this site will actually stay in results slot number one, but really…once again, what other site stands a chance of eclipsing it? SKSG is the very definition of a niche item.

I hope everybody got their taxes done on time!

That Can’t Be Helping

Yesterday at work, I realized that my laugh has mutated into a chuckle followed by a wet snort.  This has probably been going on for some time.

So yeah, that’s attractive.  I’m going to have to watch myself very carefully for a while, and nip this in the bud before it gets out of hand.

In other news, some more character profiles are coming soon!  So is an easier-to-navigate version of the cast archives.  Soon, I tell you, soon!
